CALCTRA offers high-quality custom signs for all State agencies and tax-supported departments. The Sign shop makes both metal & Sintra (a lightweight, rigid board made of PVC with a low gloss matte finish) signs.

CALTRANS Traffic Sign Ordering Process

  1. Identify the sign designation number.
    The designation number can be found in the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CA MUTCD): https://dot.ca.gov/programs/safety-programs/camutcd. If the sign is not listed, contact the Caltrans Sign Coordinator (see attached contact information).
  2. Determine the sign price.
    Standard sign pricing is available on the CALCTRA Online Store: https://catalog.calctra.ca.gov/product-type/supplies-equipment/printing/signs-metal-sintra. Scroll to the Traffic Signs Library Prices section, then use the filter or press Ctrl + F to search for the required sign by its designation number.
  3. Create and submit the purchase order.
    Use the pricing from the CALCTRA Online Store to prepare your purchase order. Submit purchase orders and order status inquiries to customerservice@calctra.ca.gov.
  4. Request a custom quote if needed.
    If you cannot locate the required sign in the CALCTRA Online Store, contact print.services@calctra.ca.gov to determine whether a custom quote is required.
